Kifune Jinja Shrine

Red Kasuga lanterns on the both sides of the 80-steps stone staircase are the symbol of the Kifune Jinja Shrine. Suggest taking Eizandensha (tram) , to enjoy the view surrounded by red maple leaves as a natural tunnel between the Ichihara and Ninose station. Jingo-ji Temple

There is famous for enjoying the red maple leaves in Kyoto since those will appear much earlier than other places. Getting off the bus, you can walk across the Kiyotaki River to the main entrance of the temple to enjoy the beautiful view. Jingo-ji Temple, hosted by Kobo Daishi, has long been a well known sceneries for enjoying the red maple leaves since 700 years ago of Muromachi era. You will be impressed by the 600-700 years old trees and the red maple leaves when you go into the deepest part of the temple, the Jizoin hall. From 5th of November (2017), it will be lighted up for night tour.

Choanji Temple

This is located on the mountainside of the Himekamiyama, famous for the view of text“大”(BIG) by burning inside the mountain. You can enjoy the garden work from the well-known horticulturist Kanto Shigemori, by the view with mixing colours of red, yellow and orange autumn leaves! Visual enjoyment! In the front gate you can find the famous Ginkgo tree which is 600 years old.

Kuwayama Jinjya

There is famous for the 1000 maple trees with fire-like red maple leaves. The red Torii, lanterns and the maple leaves are standing in the same place, very eye-catching. There will be a festival of red maple leaves on 7 November every year. There also a concert of erhu at around 5-6pm on 11 November 2017.

Ankokuji Temple

You can feel the plain styles of Japanese traditional architecture by using thatches as the temple main hall’s roof. There is also the birthplace of Ashikaga Takauji, the very first Shogun of Muromachi era. There are 100 maple trees more than 80 years. A beautiful view when you are looking at the red bridge, main hall and the maple leaves all together.

Shenzan Temple

This is built by Japanese eminent monk Saicho. You will be impressed by the red bridge in front of the entrance. This is well-known since the red maple leaves will blossom and finish in more early time. In 2017, the red maple leaves period ended a bit earlier, but there was still some red maple leaves falling down on 15 November, this created another beautiful vision. There is a Japanese maple tree with almost 400 years old, which becomes the symbol of the temple.

Kayabukinosato

There are total 38 ancient houses with the roof covered by thatches, those are built in mid to late Edo era. We can overlook the beautiful roofs in Hachimangu. This is the best location to photograph whole the village and the red leaves. Besides enjoying the red maple leaves, we suggest to go also the re-decor coffee shop in the thatch house to relax and rest.
